Kolaj, günümüzde sanatçıların bozgunculuk yöntemlerinden biri. İktidar ve toplum, görsel temsiller üzerinden tekrar tekrar beden, cinsiyet ve kimlik rollerini kurgularken, kolaj bu görsel dili yıkar ve ardında gizli olan tüm politikaları ifşa eder. Aynı zamanda bu ideolojik kurguların baskısı altında kalmış çoğul dillere kendilerini ifade edebilecekleri bir alan açar. Oyunların ve fantezilerin, bastırılmış duyguların deneyimlenmesini sağlar. Sanat ile hayatın sınırlarını bulanıklaştırır, böylece bir özgürlükler mekanı inşa eder. Bu kolaj atölyesi, gündelik hayattan yola çıkarak günümüzün beden temsillerini tartışmaya açıyor ve bu kurguların ihlaline davet ediyor.
Eda Gecikmez çalışmalarında beden ve mekân kavramları ile ilişkili cinsiyet, kimlik ve kent politikalarını ele alır. Toplumsal ve siyasi dönüşümleri, sanat tarihi ile ilişkilendirerek geçmişten ve olası gelecek tahayyüllerinden bir perspektifle günümüze odaklanır. Bunu yaparken gündelik hayatta ve sosyal medyada sıklıkla karşılaşılan imajları, durumları kullanır ve onları dönüştürür. Böylelikle günümüz dünyasının arsızca üretilip tüketilen görüntülerinin hızını yavaşlatıp daha yakından inceler ve onları parçalarına ayırıp tekrar kurgular. Alışılagelmişin güvenlikli alanlarını yıpratarak izleyiciyi bir sınırın ihlaline davet eder ve bu sınır iktidarın ideolojik bir aygıt olarak kullandığı dilidir.

Collage is one of the subversive methods of artists today. While power and society repeatedly construct body, gender, and identity roles through visual representations, collage disrupts this visual language and exposes all hidden policies behind it. At the same time, it opens a space for plural languages that have been suppressed under the pressure of these ideological constructs, allowing them to express themselves. It enables the experience of games, fantasies, and suppressed emotions. It blurs the boundaries between art and life, thus constructing a space for freedoms. This collage workshop, starting from everyday life, opens up a discussion on contemporary body representations and invites a violation of these constructs.
Eda Gecikmez addresses gender, identity, and urban policies related to the concepts of body and space in her work. She focuses on contemporary issues from a perspective that relates societal and political transformations to art history, drawing from the past and possible future imaginings. In doing so, she utilizes and transforms commonly encountered images and situations from everyday life and social media. This allows her to slow down the rapid production and consumption of images that saturate the contemporary world, examining them closely and deconstructing them to reconstruct them anew. By eroding the conventional boundaries of safety, she invites the viewer to breach a boundary, which serves as the language used by power as an ideological apparatus.
